About
데이비드 보웬(David Bowen)은 로보틱스와 상호작용 설치, 자연 데이터를 활용한 조각 작업으로 유명한 미국의 미디어 아티스트이다. 1975년에 태어난 보웬은 자연 요소와 기계 시스템의 교차 지점을 탐구하며 독창적인 예술적 비전을 발전시켜 왔다. 그의 작품은 파도, 식물 신호, 바람과 같은 자연의 데이터를 기계에 연결하여, 기계가 자연에 반응하는 과정을 시각화하고 탐구하는 데 중점을 둔다.
보웬의 작품은 국제적으로 널리 전시되었으며, 린츠의 아르스 일렉트로니카, 마드리드의 텔레포니카 재단, 칼스루에의 ZKM 미디어 아트 센터, 브뤼셀의 보자르 미술관, 더블린의 사이언스 갤러리 등 세계 유수의 미술 기관에서 소개되었다. 그는 맥나이트 시각 예술가 펠로우십을 포함해 일본 미디어 아트 페스티벌과 아르스 일렉트로니카로부터 다수의 상을 수상하며 그 예술성을 인정받았다.
현재 미네소타 대학교 덜루스 캠퍼스(University of Minnesota, Duluth)에서 조각(Sculpture) 및 피지컬 컴퓨팅 부교수로 재직 중이며, 학생들을 가르치는 동시에 키네틱 및 인터랙티브 아트 분야에서 자신의 예술적 연구와 실천을 지속하고 있다.
